Manager trying to get me to quit?

Not exactly sure how to tag this or anything but I feel like I’m going crazy. Currently I have two jobs, one being retail. Both are part time positions, and I started the retail one in February. I love working for this company as it is a place I love to shop at, and employees are treated pretty well by corporate. I also love my co workers and most customers are great. I got the job through my friend who is a part time manager and all had been well up until about a month ago.

There has been some staffing issues at the store, so about a month ago two managers were fired and a new store manager was hired. I was a bit weary of him at first because one of my co workers used to work at the old location he managed, and didn’t have many great words to say about him. I gave him the benefit of the doubt though, and everything seemed okay at first. He’s a veryyy awkward guy, so when he didn’t talk to me much I didn’t think twice about it. Last week though I told him I needed one day off (which he said was fine and said not to put in formally and that he’d remember) and then he ended up only scheduling me for two shifts, one of them including that day. I was kind of frustrated because not only were my hours cut (normally I’m given at least 3-4 shifts a week) but I had to give up a shift and took a big pay cut in my check. I figured it was a mistake and didn’t say anything and just got the shift covered. Fast forward to this week I was supposed to have it off (which he once again said was okay and not to formally put it in) but then when the schedule came out I was scheduled for two days. (I also forgot to mention he has been scheduling me outside of my availability which is pretty free cus I only have two days I can’t work each week which are the slow days in the store anyways. I then need these covered and lose hours again.) He has been blatantly ignoring my days off and availability and it is frustrating.

What really annoyed me though was that even though he ignored the availability, the scheduling was unfair anyways. Hours and supposed to be distributed evenly among part time employees, however he gave 18 hours to the two people he has a clear favoritism for and gave me only 8. Now the schedule for next week has come out and I only have one shift, while other part timers have 5. When he first got hired he asked my friend who is a part time manager who would care about their hours being cut, and my friend told him that I would care and wouldn’t want my hours cut.

Between what my friend told him and then him purposely scheduling me when he knows I’ll have to get a shift covered, and cutting my hours to give to others I feel like he is trying to make me quit. I’m not sure why either, because my loyalty and surveys from customers as well as my sale rates are very high compared to my co workers, so there’s no logical reason to cut me specifically like this. At this point I feel like it’s favoritism, but I don’t want to assume things like that. I love working at this store a lot and I don’t want to quit, but the pay cuts I’m taking are not worth it.

Would it be worth talking to him about? I tried to tell him that I’ve been having to get shifts covered when he schedules me outside of my availability and he just says “okay”, even though I’m clearly trying to tell him that’s he’s messing up my schedule in a polite way. I just don’t know what to do because he’s so new to the store and I don’t want him to get mad at me for trying to talk to him, then cut me even more if possible. Do I sound absolutely nuts, or does anyone have any advice?
