[Question] Is it appropriate to use standard error as error bars when visually comparing means?

Hi everyone! I'm just getting started in the field of biostatistics, so apologies if this is a basic question.

I'm working with a bar plot comparing means between different groups, and I'm wondering whether it is appropriate to use the standard error (SE) as the error bars.

My main goal at this stage is to get a visual sense of whether there might be significant differences between the groups. We will later perform more formal statistical tests to evaluate those differences, but I'm unsure about the best way to represent variability or uncertainty in the plot.

Is using mean ± SE appropriate for this purpose? Can the overlap (or lack of overlap) of SE error bars tell us anything meaningful about statistical significance, or would confidence intervals be more appropriate?

Thanks!

"failed to read block 0x61" and blue screen last night, but now it works?

Hi, I'm trying to install Linux Mint on my old computer so I can finally start learning how to use Linux properly.

I created a bootable USB using a Linux Mint ISO downloaded from one of the mirrors listed on the official Mint website (the Mexico mirror, if that's relevant). I installed Mint from the USB, and at the end the installer said everything had completed successfully and that I should remove the USB drive and press enter to restart the computer.

When I did that last night, the screen went black and I got an error that said something like: "failed to read block 0x61 ... -5". I turned the computer off and back on twice, but then I only got a blue screen.

Today I tried again with the USB plugged in this time. The blue screen appeared at first, but then the system booted normally. I have since unplugged the USB drive, and everything seems to be working fine.

Is this normal? If I shut the computer down and turn it back on again, am I likely to run into the same problem? Please help :´)

photo shows the computer in its current state. It appears to be working normally now, which is why I'm confused about what happened.
