Constance Ephelia vs. Constance Lemuria for honeymoon

My fiancé and I are planning our honeymoon in the Seychelles and will be spending 5 nights there after safari. We’ve narrowed it down to Constance Ephelia on Mahé or Constance Lemuria on Praslin. We’ll be going early October.

For our dates, Lemuria would be about $3.5k more total for the 5 nights, and we’re trying to decide if the experience is actually worth that jump.

We like that Lemuria seems smaller and potentially a little more intimate/romantic, which definitely appeals to us for a honeymoon. Ephelia looks beautiful too, but I know it’s a much larger resort. On the other hand, Ephelia is on Mahé, which would make the logistics easier, and $3,500 is obviously a pretty significant difference for only five nights.

For anyone who has stayed at one or, ideally, both:
- Did Lemuria feel noticeably more luxurious or special than Ephelia?
- How different did they feel in terms of crowds, service, beaches, food, and overall atmosphere?
- Did Ephelia ever feel too big/busy, especially for a honeymoon?
- Is being on Praslin worth the extra travel/logistics?
If Lemuria cost you an extra ~$500/night, would you still choose it?

Would love to hear from anyone who has experienced one or both!

Zanzibar vs Seychelles - Honeymoon

My fiancé and I are planning our honeymoon for next October. We'll be spending about a week on safari in Kenya and then want to end the trip with 4–5 nights on the beach before flying home.

I've gone back and forth so many times between Seychelles and Zanzibar, and I'm honestly worried I'll regret whichever one I choose.

Originally, I was set on Seychelles because I love the lush mountains, granite boulders, tropical vegetation, and how peaceful it seems. It just looks incredibly unique and romantic.

My hesitation is that it's significantly more expensive and takes more time to get to after safari.

Our travel agent suggested we seriously consider Zanzibar because it's much easier logistically, our budget would go much further, and we could stay at some really beautiful luxury properties.

For Seychelles, we'd probably stay somewhere similar to Constance Ephelia.

For Zanzibar, they recommended:

  • Kilindi Zanzibar (Garden View Pool Pavilion or Ocean View Pool Pavilion)
  • Baraza Resort & Spa (Garden Villa)
  • Xanadu – Umande Villa
  • The Manta Resort (Superior Garden Room)
  • Zanzibar White Sand Luxury Villas & Spa (Deluxe Room)

Here's where I'm struggling...

I don't love huge, commercialized resorts where there are people everywhere. I want our honeymoon to feel peaceful, intimate, and luxurious.

At the same time, we're also not the type of couple that can lay on a beach from 9 AM to 5 PM every day.

We'll absolutely relax by the pool, enjoy long breakfasts, get massages, and spend plenty of time on the beach. But after a few hours, we usually like having something else to do—whether that's snorkeling, paddleboarding, hiking, taking a boat trip, exploring another beach, or just having multiple restaurants and different parts of the property to wander around.

That's actually why Constance Ephelia appeals to me. Even though it's a larger resort, it seems really spread out and offers a lot of different beaches, restaurants, activities, and places to explore without feeling like a giant all-inclusive.

My concern with some of the boutique Zanzibar resorts is whether we'd end up feeling like we've seen everything after a couple of days and wish there was a little more variety.

On the other hand, one of my biggest concerns about Zanzibar is that I've read about beach vendors, people approaching you while walking the beach, and certain areas feeling more touristy. I know every destination has tourists, but I don't want to spend our honeymoon wishing we'd chosen somewhere quieter.

So I have a few questions for people who've actually been:

  • If you've been to both Seychelles and Zanzibar, which would you choose for a honeymoon and why?
  • Do luxury resorts like Kilindi, Xanadu, or White Sand feel secluded enough that you don't really notice the crowds or beach vendors?
  • Does a larger resort like Constance Ephelia actually feel "large," or because it's so spread out does it still feel peaceful?
  • If you had 4–5 nights after an incredible safari, would you prioritize a smaller, ultra-private resort or somewhere with more restaurants, beaches, and activities?
  • Is Seychelles truly a noticeably more special experience, or would we be just as happy at one of these luxury Zanzibar properties?

Since this is our honeymoon, and I keep worrying that I'll either choose Zanzibar and wish we'd splurged on Seychelles, or spend the extra money on Seychelles and realize Zanzibar would've given us an equally amazing experience.

I'd really love to hear from people who've stayed at any of these resorts or have visited both destinations. Thanks soo much!!!

Seychelles Honeymoon - Tips/advice

Hi everyone! My fiancé and I are planning our honeymoon for October 2027, and we're currently leaning toward spending about a week on safari in Kenya (likely staying in private conservancies) followed by 5–7 nights at the beach.

Originally, we were pretty set on the Seychelles, but the more research we do, the more questions we have.

One of the things we're most excited about on safari is the intimate, uncrowded experience—small luxury camps, personalized service, incredible guides, and just feeling like you're away from everything. We'd love the beach portion of our honeymoon to have that same feeling.

For those who have been to the Seychelles:

  • Does it still feel intimate and romantic, or does it feel more like a traditional luxury resort destination?
  • Are there hotels on Mahé that capture that private honeymoon atmosphere, or do you really need to stay on islands like Félicité, North Island, Silhouette, etc. to get that experience?
  • If you stayed on one of the smaller islands, was the extra travel worth it?

Our ideal resort would have things like:

  • A private plunge pool or villa (within reason - not sure if Four Season's can fit in the budget)
  • Beautiful beaches with clear water
  • Great food
  • A relaxed luxury feel rather than a busy resort with hundreds of guests/families

The challenge is that we're trying to balance logistics with the experience. Staying on Mahé seems much easier after flying from Kenya, but many of the properties people rave about seem to be on the outer islands.

If you've done a Kenya safari followed by the Seychelles—or another beach destination like Zanzibar, Mauritius, Mozambique, or anywhere else—I'd love to hear what you chose and whether you'd do it again.

Any hotel receommendations would be lovely. I have looked into raffles, mango house, constance euphelia. We're definitely drawn to the Seychelles because of how beautiful it looks, but I want to make sure it delivers that secluded honeymoon feeling we're looking for.

Thanks so much!

African Safari Honeymoon - Need Tips and Advice

My fiancé and I are planning our honeymoon for the first two weeks of October 2027 (9/29-10/15), and I would love some advice from people who have planned or taken a safari in Kenya or Tanzania. We are planning 6 nights at safari and 5 nights in Seychelles with a budget of 30k.

We originally leaned heavily toward Tanzania, but several travel agents have suggested that Kenya may give us a better chance of seeing the Great Migration in early October. This is our first safari and I believe either option will be amazing. Our biggest priorities are seeing as much wildlife as possible, hopefully including the Big Five, and having at least a chance of seeing part of the migration.

We have also noticed that safari rates seem to drop significantly later in October. Would it be worth postponing the trip by two weeks to save money, or would we be giving up too much in terms of wildlife and migration opportunities?

Some of the Kenya properties that have been proposed to us so far include Lerai Safari Camp, Tawi Lodge, and Ol Seki Hemingways Mara. Also, Lemala Kuria Hills and Lemala Nanyukie. These were recommended as they fit into the overall budget along with Seychelles costs. I think we ultimately need to decide Kenya or Tanzania first but would love hotel input as well. Would you recommend splitting the safari between the reserve and a private conservancy, or choosing two different conservancies?

Because this is our honeymoon, we want the accommodations to feel genuinely romantic and special. Ideally, we would love:

• A smaller, intimate camp
• Beautiful views directly from our room
• A private plunge pool, if possible
• Romantic private dinners or sundowners overlooking the plains
• Excellent guiding and wildlife viewing
• A mix of social atmosphere and privacy

We are open to a slightly larger lodge if the room itself feels private and romantic and the property offers special honeymoon experiences.

For those who have done a Kenya or Tanzania honeymoon, what areas and lodges would you recommend? Would you choose Kenya or Tanzania for early October? And would you travel during the first two weeks of October or wait until later in the month for potentially lower rates?

I really want this to feel like a honeymoon so any advice would be greatly appreciated!
