Two stunning views: a sea of red and a charmingly handsome Xiao Zhan.

Xiao Zhan looked very handsome & charming at today’s offline event at a mall in Hong Kong. According to media reports nearly 10,000 people attended filling the venue with the color red as a portion of fans came together to create the signature red sea representing Xiao Zhan’s fandom.

You could tell that XZ was genuinely happy and grateful to everyone who came to see him. He made an effort to walk around and greet the crowds before making his way to the stage, and he later expressed how deeply moved he was by the support and the sea of red saying he felt like the sky was painted red today!

"hello everyone, i 'm xiao zhan. i am truly moved, i can feel your enthusiasm-it's as if you've painted the very sky red. thank you---thank you all. i have been worried about the weather these past few days; the forecast kept predicting rain, so kept wondering what we'd do if it poured.

thankfully, the weather gods have been kind to us today. Gathering here at the magnificent victoria harbour - breathing the same air and feeling the gentle sea breeze. i hope that no matter how much time passes, we will always remember this very moment. thank you. thank you all."

Costume C-dramas are far more interesting and engaging than modern C-dramas.

I feel like over the past 2–3 years, a lot more people have discovered Chinese dramas through modern romance series, especially the ones available on Netflix. I’m not saying they aren’t good, most of them are enjoyable, but personally, I can rarely get through them (I think there have only been about two or three that I’ve actually enjoyed over the years).

My watchlist is mostly made up of costume dramas. However, I’ve noticed that non-romance Chinese dramas can be really well-produced and surprisingly interesting too (for example, The Bad Kids).

So I’m curious:

  1. Do you feel the same, you rather spend time watching costume C-dramas?
  2. What genre (costume or modern) first got you into C-dramas?
  3. Do you feel more attached to a specific genre, or do you enjoy a mix of different types?

Which actresses have the kind of beauty or aura that makes you go "wow"? 💕

I'm all for our gorgeous male actors, but my goodness, the actresses deserve just as much appreciation. As a fellow female, I can't help but admire them, it's not just their beauty, but their elegance, charisma, confidence, and the way they carry themselves.

Who are some C-ent actresses that you personally find absolutely stunning?

My favorites are Zhao Liying, Dilraba, Zhang Yaqin, and Dai Lu Wa. They are just so gorgeous!

Are there any C-dramas you occasionally rewatch because they were just that good for you?

While I appreciate all the new C-drama releases, there are some dramas that just can't be topped. I often find myself chasing that same feeling with newer shows, and when nothing quite compares, I end up revisiting some of my old favorites until I give newer shows a chance.

I'm actually not someone who rewatches C-dramas very often, but there are a handful that I come back to every now and then because they were just that good.

One of those is Empresses in the Palace. Every time I revisit it, I'm reminded of just how incredible it is. The writing, characters, performances, and overall storytelling were all on another level. Sun Li is also one of the best female leads and characters I've witnessed in cdramaland.

Meng Ziyi & Ding Yuxi are officially confirmed for a new modern romance drama! What do you think of this pairing?

They were part of the supporting cast in the costume drama Love in Pavilion, where they shared an incomplete love story.

Now they will be leading a modern romance drama!

The urban romance drama centers on a young woman who, after being separated from her childhood sweetheart by the cruel timing of fate, unexpectedly crosses paths with him years later as an adult, forcing her to navigate a turbulent emotional tug-of-war between her lingering past memories and complicated present feelings before ultimately choosing to reignite their long-delayed love story.
