🎬 We loved discussing topics such as adapting Victor Hugo's novel into a Disney movie, what moments felt particular frustrating and what team did to get unstuck, at what point the team knew they struck "creative gold", who advocated for keeping Hellfire in the film, and thoughts on a live-action adaptation...just to name a few!

✨ Earlier in the year when Tab Murphy, the screenwriter of Disney's The Hunchback of Notre, shared a photo of his full size poster of this same design hanging on his wall, I knew I had to take this photo inside Notre Dame of the copy he autographed for me!

I referenced it near the very end of our livestream last night, and how it took several attempts to get the alignment right! I'm sure the other visitors were a bit confused, but luckily I know everyone at Notre Dame, and they also thought it's a cool photo... which it most definitely is!!

I'm SO excited to finally share this photo; I've been holding onto it for so long!! 🥹

In May 2024, I got to add this beautiful and truly one-of-a-kind piece to my Hunchback of Notre Dame collection...A drawing of me dressed up as Esmeralda joining Quasimodo in the bell towers of Notre Dame for a party with Esmeralda and the gargoyles, and Kida from Disney's Atlantis: The Last Empire and Belle from Disney's Beauty and the Beast, drawn by none other than the Director (of all three of these movies!), Gary Trousdale himself!

I took this photo a few months ago, shortly after the bell towers reopened, but I wanted to save it for a special occasion and what better occasion than The Hunchback of Notre Dame's 30th Anniversary!?

Coincidentally, this was also at the same time when I first mentioned to Gary that I had an idea to host "some kind of fan celebration" for the 30th Anniversary of Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame in 2026...

✨ In addition to Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Gary Trousdale is best known for directing acclaimed Disney films Beauty and the Beast, and Atlantis: The Lost Empire. All of which he worked together on with director Kirk Wise and producer Don Hahn! Gary, Kirk and Don also worked together with screenwriter Tab Murphy on Disney's Atlantis: The Lost Empire.

Gary has also worked on several other Disney movies including The Black Cauldron, Oliver & Company, The Little Mermaid, The Rescuers Down Under, The Prince and the Pauper, Aladdin, and The Lion King!

🎆 🏰 Here's a throwback to a segment of the fireworks show that ran at Disneyland Paris in December 2024 during the week-long special event "Disneyland Paris loves Notre Dame de Paris" to celebrate the reopening of Notre Dame.

Ft. my reaction right before the show started 😂

We were "pixie dusted" and we couldn't believe how great this view was! This fireworks show was absolutely GORGEOUS and it was by far my most favourite one that I've seen at a Disney park.

Ahead of the fireworks show, there was a lights/drone show introducing the story of The Hunchback of Notre Dame and it was super cool to see all characters in lights! I'll post that show later, along with the 14 juillet/Bastille Day fireworks show from July 2025 that had a bigger-than-usual Hunchback of Notre Dame segment because of the "left-over" stuff from this show!

I'm most excited to learn about the time the production team spent in Paris in preparation for making Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame!

✨ In addition to producing Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Don Hahn produced acclaimed Disney films The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, The Emperor's New Groove, and Atlantis: The Lost Empire.

Don previously worked with directors Kirk Wise and Gary Trousdale on Disney's Beauty and the Beast before working together on Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and they reunited to work together again on Disney's Atlantis: The Lost Empire (along with screenwriter Tab Murphy!).

Don is also known his work on a long list of animated and live-action Disney films including Pete’s Dragon, The Fox and the Hound, The Black Cauldron, Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Fantasia 2000, and The Haunted Mansion (2003), Maleficent, and Beauty and the Beast (2017) respectively.

In 2022, he received the prestigious Disney Legends Award, the company’s highest honour!

✨ In addition to Judge Claude Frollo from Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Kathy Zielinski has been instrumental in bringing several notable animated characters to life such as: Ursula in Disney's The Little Mermaid, Frank in Disney's The Rescuers Down Under, Jafar (as Beggar and Snake) in Disney's Aladdin, Tzekel-Kan in DreamWorks' The Road to El Dorado, Spirit in DreamWorks' Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, and Marina in DreamWorks' Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas among others!

Kathy has also worked on many other Disney films including The Black Cauldron, The Great Mouse Detective, Oliver & Company and Frozen, as well as many DreamWorks films within their core franchises: Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon and Madagascar. She's worked on almost every DreamWorks film between 1998-2014.

I've always known that Kathy had an impressive filmography, but I didn't realize just *how many* films she's worked on until I looked at the full list!

🎆 🏰 Here's a throwback to the Hunchback of Notre Dame segment of the "Disney Dreams!" fireworks show that used to run at Disneyland Paris.

The new fireworks show, "Disney Tales of Magic", also features Quasimodo singing Out There, but it's a much shorter segment and I don't like the projections as much as the ones in the "Disney Dreams!" show.

I wish the "Disney Dreams!" show would make a comeback! We need more Hunchback of Notre Dame representation at Disneyland Paris!

We're so excited that Stephen Schwartz, musical theatre composer & lyricist, will be joining The Official Unofficial Fan Celebration for the 30th Anniversary of Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame on Saturday, June 20th from 2:00pm-3:00pm EST!

🎤 We have a ton of great questions lined up for Stephen!What are you most excited to learn more about!?

I'm most excited to learn more about the deleted songs and his experience coming back, after working on the film, to write new songs for the stage musical(s) - the original 1999 German production of Der Glöckner von Notre Dame, and then the 2014-2015 English language productions!

🎼 Stephen Schwartz collaborated with composer Alan Menken on the songs for Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and they also collaborated on the songs for Disney's Pocahontas and Disney's Enchanted.

In addition to working on iconic Disney films, Stephen has also written several hit musicals such as Wicked, Pippin, Godspell and Children of Eden...just to name a few!

He's earned numerous accolades including three Academy Awards, four Grammy Awards, four Drama Desk Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and has received nominations for six Tony Awards, and a Laurence Olivier Award.

In 2008, he was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 2009, he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the American Theater Hall of Fame. In 2015, he received an honorary Tony Award for his commitment to serving artists and fostering new talent.

🎉 To celebrate, you're invited to join The Official Unofficial Fan Celebration for the 30th Anniversary of Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame on Saturday, June 20th starting at 2:00pm EST!

This online event will be livestreamed on the YouTube channel: Hunchback30thAnniversary. If you're not able to join us, don't worry! The event will be recorded and kept on YouTube.

We're very excited to celebrate how much we all love Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame, reminisce about our favourite related memories over the past 30 years, and for our special guests to share their insights and experiences working on the movie.

Our special guests include:

⚜️ Don Hahn (Producer)
⚜️ Kirk Wise (Director)
⚜️ Gary Trousdale* (Director)
⚜️ Tab Murphy (Screenwriter)
⚜️ Stephen Schwartz (Lyricist)
⚜️ Kathy Zielinski (Supervising Animator, Frollo)

*Gary Trousdale is unavailable to attend the livestream, but he will be pre-recording an interview.

A few additional scheduling notes:

🗓️ Stephen Schwartz will be joining from 2:00pm-3:00pm EST.
🗓️ Tab Murphy will be joining around 3:00pm EST.
🗓️ Kathy Zielinski will be joining after 3:00pm EST.

🔔 We will keep everyone updated on the exact scheduling of each special guest, and if there are any changes. Please be patient as we're coordinating across 10 different timezones!

🇫🇷 We are still working through the logistics of possibly doing an in-person fan meet up in Paris on Sunday, June 21st. If you'd be interested, let us know!

🕺Here's a throwback to Halloween 2009 of Frollo dancing in the "Disney Villains Mix and Mingle" show that used to be part of Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party at Walt Disney World. I love his fist bump at the end, haha.
