Some miniatures are more commercially available than others. My DM lamented that he could use more minis for mobs and large encounters, but he was lacking in certain areas. (Although he has more goblins than you can shake a stick at!) What miniatures would you like to see more of, or more variety in, for your encounters?
I found a 4-pack of Norkers and a Norker on a boar by Reaper Miniatures, and I had to paint them. They’re kind of cute in a weird way. 100% would adopt one as the party friend, even if they’re against it.
Nebula decided to join my miniature shoot.
If it helps at all, this was in Minnesota.
The dragon is painted now, but perhaps I will go back in to make some finishing touches after my eyes are off the project for a little bit.
How do you like to take photos? What equipment is your ride-or-die? As much as I know I can improve on the painting aspect, capturing accurate photos is a place where I feel more lost. Posted photos in light boxes never look as good to me as spontaneous photos in my hand or on the paint table.
This one also felt appropriate for an outdoor shoot. Do you ever take pictures outside? Ideas and recommendations welcome!
Thanks for following along, to anyone who has seen my previous Vile Blossom Dragon painting posts.
There’s still a good amount of painting to go, but the Vile Blossom Dragon has finally been pinned. I need to fix and resume some of the painting now that the composition is together. (I still need to work on being able to visualize my lighting better while it’s in pieces.) I also didn’t realize the tip of the tail had such visible layer lines before I got to some lighter paint, so it looks like I’ll have to sand and re-do that too.
I ended up going almost an inch into the tail, and also gluing the foot down with 2-part epoxy. This is my first time ever pinning anything, and while it was a little scary, it went about as well as it could have. I haven’t added any weight to the base yet, but it feels quite sturdy.
I finally attached the head to the flower dragon body. Does anyone have tips on mini photography? (Especially the big bois.)
I have this 3D printed Vile Blossom Dragon miniature and it needs to be attached to the base. It has very few/small points that can connect, either with the back foot or the tail. I’m chugging along on the paint job so I imagine I need to figure out how to attach it so I have a plan ready.
Also, enjoy the finished head. :)
