I have a passion for understanding politics, but I always feel behind the curve as far as my level of knowledge and skill in articulating my views on policy. What has worked for you when it comes to improving your writing/communication skills and becoming informed and balanced in your politics? For context, I’m hoping to go into the lobbying/think tank world.

I recently got selected for a senate internship starting in January. I’m really excited for the opportunity, but I’m a little concerned about my writing and other communication skills. I feel like I write and speak decently, but I’m curious about the type of writing I’ll actually be doing (if any) and some things I can do beforehand to prepare.
