Korean tutor learning Mandarin - looking for a Mandarin tutor for language exchange

Hi! I’m a new Korean tutor on Preply, and I’m also currently learning Mandarin as a beginner.

I’m a native Korean speaker, fluent in English, and currently a university student. Since I’m still very new to Mandarin, I’d love to find a Mandarin tutor who might be interested in a casual Korean-Mandarin language exchange / tutor-to-tutor practice. We can perhaps talk to each other in English as I'm just a beginner in Mandarin.

I can help with Korean conversation, pronunciation, natural expressions, or beginner-friendly explanations, and I’d love to practice Mandarin in return. Ideally, we could do something friendly but somewhat consistent, maybe once a week or when our schedules match.

I’d prefer to exchange with another female tutor, as I’d feel more comfortable that way.

We could start by chatting through DM, share our Preply profiles if we both feel comfortable, and see if our goals, teaching styles, and schedules match.

Feel free to leave a comment or DM me if you’re interested!

Applied as an italki Community Tutor - do they usually take the full 10 business days?

Hi everyone! I applied to become an italki Community Tutor for Korean on May 4, and the application page said they would get back within 10 business days. It hasn’t been 10 business days yet, so I know I’m still within the normal waiting period, but I was just wondering about other tutors’ experiences.

For those who applied recently, did italki usually take close to the full 10 business days to respond? Or did some people hear back earlier?

Thanks in advance! I’m just curious because I’m getting a little nervous while waiting haha.

Hi everyone! I’m a new tutor on Preply and I recently saw an older post (https://www.reddit.com/r/Preply/comments/1i84p8y/students\_blocking\_price\_by\_putting\_me\_in\_their/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web3x&utm\_name=web3xcss&utm\_term=1&utm\_content=share\_button) discussing whether students can “lock in” a tutor’s previous price by adding them to their favorites before the tutor raises their rate.

I’m wondering if this is still true in 2026.

For example, if my current price is $10 and a student adds me to their favorites, but I later raise my price to $15 before they book a trial lesson or subscribe, would they still see/pay the old $10 price? Or would they need to pay the current $15 price? The old post basically says they will still pay $10.

I’m trying to understand how price changes work for:

- students who added me to favorites

- students who started but didn’t complete a trial booking

- students who booked a trial but haven’t subscribed yet

- future new students

Would really appreciate any recent experience from tutors or students. Thanks!
