Solberg criticism vs McCrae worship
Incredible finale to the season. Congrats to Evans, I was rooting for him amongst some others. Evans is a stud and in my opinion the most deserving champion given his consistency. Proud of you Welshman!
I want to solicit opinions from longtime rally fans about the double standard I see amongst some commenters on the internet. With Solberg having one of the most impressive full-time WRC debuts of in history and a bold, risktaking, nothing to lose driving style, it’s easy to see that if he stays this way his future is bright and he is on a path to be compared stylistically to McCrae.
Is it normal, and did it happen back when McCrae was pre-champion, to criticize the cavalier driving style and act like the driver is foolish? It seems some people only celebrate that style when you lift the 🏆 or are a relic of the past, and give no space to young up-and-comers who operate that way. I personally think some people are incapable of appreciating their current place in history and always need to romanticize the past.
