Strange Bot Activity on the JRE Bob Lazar Episode (2019)
Hey Everyone,
Not sure if this is the right place to ask about this, but I was pretty weirded out by what I found earlier on youtube. I feel like there could be something strange going on and thought I'd run it by the community of my favourite internet sleuth.
I was watching the 2019 JRE episode featuring Bob Lazar (here) and that Jeremy guy as all the recent buzz around UAP/UFO's and disclosure got me interested again. I was scanning the comments as I usually do, mainly laughing at how hard people were ripping into the Jeremy guy, and I kept seeing the same comments, with slight variations, posted over and over again.
The comments were directly challenging Lazar's assertions, with the most commonly repeated one being an incredibly long post (that I call the "essay") setting out numerous reasons why he was not to be believed, how there's no record of him at Los Alamos, no coworkers or co-eds came forward etc etc. I have no problem with people being skeptical, but the content got increasingly weird from there.
Some of the accounts that posted the "essay" would go on to post additional comments talking about other individuals too. They would follow the pattern of saying something like
"Robert Coggeshall is doing a study on Fast Quick. Just you wait, it'll be here soon"
or
"Dr. Todd Grande is a mental health expert , he is doing a study on Robert Coggeshall soon."
Sometimes Coggeshall/Fast Quick would be interchanged, other times completely different names would be in their place. Many of the accounts however seem to have this obsession with the "Coggeshall" surname. I tried googling "Robert Coggeshall" as this was a very commonly posted name but nothing that links to the UFO/Lazar subject matter caught my eye.
In addition, the accounts would post a list of usernames "warning all viewers" that the people on the list were "suffering with mental health disorders"; then a string of names would follow. It's not clear to me yet whether these are the names of people in the comments who are stating their support/belief in Lazar's claims, but one of them is "Fast Quick". I seem to have found a comment from the original Fast Quick stating that they're greatful for Bob's contributions and are glad to hear him speak.
There must be in excess of 20/30 of these profiles (from what I can see so far), all posting subtle variations of the same comment over and over. Diving into the descriptions of the profiles themselves reveal that many of them were made in early 2025, though there are some amongst them that have been active since 2020. The oldest one I've found so far is from around that time. They are posting both very recently (within a couple of weeks to months) and as far back as 2020/1. The way youtube comments work is a bit weird, it doesn't give you a concrete time, but lots of the posts are registered as "a year ago" (roughly in step with the creation of the accounts).
Looking at the bot channel descriptions, they all make mention of various topics, from Bigfoot to UFO's. Some of them make reference to the Beatles, always in a derogatory or critical way, calling them "racist" or "talentless", as well as other bizzarre comments related to doctors, mental health studies, and also an emphasis on "the paranormal" not being real.
The comments are all there and visible, just go to the video, click through any of the replies to some of the top comments, and they'll be there.
After really looking at it, it's clear to me that there are also swathes of bots that have the same profile pictures as the ones slating lazar, but they're just saying other things. Like discussing the weather, or nonsensical material that isn't referencing anything in the video. Nobody seems to react to them.
So whats the deal here? Does anyone think its worth investigating? Obviously the first thought that springs into my head is the most obvious (and dramatic), and that could be:
- It's a coordinated campaign by some organised entity that wants to discredit and ridicule Bob Lazar.
- It's a very troubled individual trying to become the next iteration of the "Yayvideogames" style of obsessive hyperposting.
- It could just be my first real encounter with the dead internet theory (insert james franco "first time?" meme here).
Either way, I wanted to drop it here as I couldn't think where else to take it. I've not seen anything this sprawling before and nobody on the video itself seems to be discussing it. I really mean it, these comments are absolutely everywhere. I got a very strange/creepy feeling from seeing all the same uncanny profile pictures posting over and over again.
Just adding this here as I went back to check again before posting: Sometimes, the bots argue amongst themselves. Some of the profiles posting comments in support of Lazar have the same profile pictures as the ones posting negative comments. It seems a positive comment pops up, and is then swamped by negative bots. I'm pretty sure Fast Quick is one of the positive bots.
I'm happy to provide links or screenshots to anyone who's interested, and I hope this doesn't seem like a waste of time to post. Let me know your thoughts!
