Received an offer at a small pharma company where it sounds like I’d have great learning opportunity and room for growth, but also wear many hats as they develop. Same day, they confirmed they have been acquired by a European pharma who does not have a US presence. My would-be manager told me they can proceed with the position, but details of the acquisition are still underway, to be finalized late Q3. So I could join now and have three months of onboarding and position ownership, then who knows. Maybe new parent company gets rid of us all, maybe they make no changes, maybe it opens up opportunity to work across international teams - there’s no knowing. I have a very stable job now in a mid size Pharma, but no real room for growth. New job is 12-15% raise, fully remote, benefits so-so. Current job is in office 2-days/week with a 90-min commute one-way, but great benefits, good culture, job security. I do not have pharma acquisition experience so not sure what to do. Opportunity sounds really intriguing but do I risk my secure job knowing anything could happen in the aquisition.
Anyone have any information on Catalyst Pharma? Working there or how they treat employees, company culture, business model, work/life, etc.? Reviews and information online seems limited, so any insights are appreciated.
Received an offer at a new company while also discussing career progression with my current company. Struggling to make a decision as both seem to have equal pros and cons. I admittedly do not have a significant amount of pharma industry experience, which is making this decision difficult as well.
Job 1 - with current company, going from regional to global lead. would be effective Jan, 2027, estimated 10-15% increase, 25% bonus, no equity or LTI. mid-size well established pharma company with non-US corporate making growth and process development slower and more challenging. no guarantees that it will be confirmed, but looks likely based on current status. job security in my current and would be future role. limited growth potential after this new role. been there several years and have good established relationships. 75-min commute one-way (RT avg 2-3hrs) onsite maybe 4-6 times a month.
Job 2 - small pharma with commercial start up with the role to build out a functional program as i see fit. limited view of current team with current shifts in management. greater opportunity for growth in a developing business, but greater risks as well. current rumors of acquisition. role on offer is 12-15% increase in my current base, 20% bonus, 5k equity sign-on with potential for additional equity granted yearly. 100% remote with minimal travel required.
