Update to my grid tied solar pergola porch and anenji 12k system with 12k battery bank.
So i planned this setup for 2 years after moving into this house. Plotted my daily usage and did everything to make the house as efficient as possible. New windows, new mini split ac/heat, new awenings, some new appliances, full led lighting, new solar attick vent fans, new attic insulation and my daily usage on the hottest days went fro 60kwh down to 30... averaging about 20 throughout the year. Coldest days dropped from 120kwh to also 30 now... lol
Anyways, because my utility measures 1/4 hour intervals instead of hourly i thought i could get away with 2400w (5x 445w canadian solar bifacial) of solar input... boy was i wrong lmao. That only made 14kwh per day and never put more than 2 or 3 into the batteries.
So last week i went and got 5 more canadian solar panels from a warehouse nearby. They only had 375w bifacials but somehow they make 1600w at the same time the big pergola array is making 1800... wierd. Dirty panels already maybe? Idk, not the point... NOW im finally hitting my 24kwh per day goal and filling the batteries to like 80-90% every day. At 2pm our peak production is usually 3800w and we are zeroing the grid using ct sensors and zero export mode from 8am till 5 - 7am and its still summer 100* here. Yesterday we only used 7kwh from the utility. Im 100% certain we will 0 that number in fall and spring and hopefully cut usage in half during winter.
My next step is changing it from zero export grid tied to a off grid pass through with interlock so we will still have whole home power in an outtage.
im currently 6k into this project (pergola, panels, inverter, batteries, wiring, ground mounts and all) and hell 20k into the house upgrades total including this to increase efficiency. and kill the electric bill.
