Why isn't there a proper health club in Reigate?
I live in Reigate. We love it here, but constantly bemoan the lack of a real private health club - the kind with nice changing rooms, pool, spa and sauna, maybe racquet sports. It's got to be the one of the most affluent places in the UK to not have one. If the number of people drinking £6 coffees outside Gails every day, sending their kids to private school and driving around in Masaratis and Mclarens is a measure, there is clearly lots and lots of disposable income around and yet the only local pool is at the dismal Donyngs or tiny Nutfield priory that currently isn't even offering weekend memberships. It's a super healthy and sporty town- active park run, lots of BMF type exercise groups in the park, massive annual 5 and 10k races and very active outdoor swimming lake. So I'm wondering if anyone knows why the private health club companies (Nuffield, David Lloyd, Virgin etc) haven't targeted the town? Everyone I speak to says they would join a club if it were here.
