Goodbye (for now) wrangler fam

We sold our wrangler today. 2011 with 142k miles but we only had it for a year and a half. We just needed the space because we already have three other cars and it’s not really practical at the moment. It’s goodbye for now because we plan to get another, newer wrangler in a few years. Something a little lower mileage and more reliable so we can actually take it on trips and trust it on the highway. We don’t have the time or money to dedicate to completely fixing this one up so it just did short trips around town. But it did make us fall in love with jeeps so we can’t wait to rejoin the family down the road!

Wolfbox camera mirror install

Finally got around to installing the Wolfbox G840s on my wrangler. With the oversized tire on the carrier, visibility out the back and in the rear view was basically nonexistent so it was necessary. I had to make my own bracket to make it work with my aftermarket spare tire carrier and Amazon mounting arm. The hardest part of the whole process was getting the wiring through the tailgate but luckily I had an extra 1” rubber grommet so I was able to just cut the factory one off and use that. The only install issue I had was that some of the wiring was short. The wire to tie into the reverse lights wire was too short to reach the taillight after being routed through the tailgate. The main wire that connects the rear camera to the mirror itself just barely reached with no room to spare. It took some creative wire routing to get every last inch I could and just barely reached. Since I’m using the rear camera full time as a rear view mirror, not tying into the reverse light wiring isn’t really an issue because that just makes the parking lines appear. And to be honest, they’re not that helpful.

After driving with it a few times, my biggest complaint is that the image on the mirror is very zoomed in because it is stretched to fit the width of the mirror. I wish it had the option to zoom out, even if it didn’t fit the whole width of the mirror. I have seen that as an option on other Wolfbox mirrors so possibly avoidable with some more time spent on comparing different models. Overall though, very happy with the product and the results
