First Timer Tips

I recently invested in a bicycle as an adult. I used to ride around a ton as a kid, but not really at all in the past decade. I’m a 5’9 26YO F looking for good low impact cardio. Any tips for a first time rider? I tend to overdo exercise and create injury so I’m trying to ease into it. I went almost 3 miles today. We’ll see how sore I am tomorrow, haha.

Any advice welcome. Thank you!

Civilian LE jobs: best way to break in?

I was laid off from a journalism job I worked for 5 years. I am currently earning my MA in CJ and a grad cert in cybercrime and cybersecurity. I’m in Michigan and looking to break into a civilian career — probably intelligence analysis or maybe digital forensics. I love investigations and building profiles and background. I want to continue to do work that makes a difference and I enjoy a fast paced work environment. I have already reached out to familiar contacts and tout my skills that translate. Is starting in dispatch at the state level a good entry point? Do you have any other advice?

Day in the life?

Earning my masters in CJ. Considering taking classes in forensics. What does a digital forensic examiner do on the day to day? And how do you like it?

Is it true you deal with a lot of CSAM? That’s upsetting and deters me from digital forensics.

A lot of data work?

Do you work with data and graphs a lot? Is that a majority of the work or does it depend on the department/agency?

For background: I’m in grad school and will be taking a Crime Analysis class.

I’m now 26F and I’ve been really not bad the past two years. I herniated a disc in my low back two years ago. My injury and doing something to be in pain again has never left my mind. Just yesterday my back started hurting bad again. I don’t know what I did as it progressively got worse while I was just sitting at work. I was practically hobbling out of there at the end of the day. I am going back to my doctor to see if I need another MRI and what my options are. I’m VERY scared of back surgery but I will talk everything out with my doctor. What made you bite the bullet and have you had to go back for more surgery? How was your recovery and how long was it?
