What device would you use for measuring the angle for solar panels?

Had my question answered on another post: Solmetric Sun Eye can measure the intensity of the sun as well as the alignment with the zenith.

Making a simulator so that going off grid is much easier for individuals. For measuring the wind we are using a simple vane anemometer.

What should I depict for solar?

So far we just have a deviation angle message for "optimal placement" but it is a shame we don't have an equivalent to the anemometer.

Looking for ideas for a device to use before the player gets "advanced mapping techniques".

Solarpunk the game vs the solarpunk the movement.

I saw several posts recently which were vastly different from eachother on this sub.

The negative comments on the cozy SolarPunk game release 4 days ago surprised me since it seemed very much appropriate for this sub. Specifically that it isn't punky enough. It is meant to be a cosy game to let people escape the current gloom so that doesn't come as a surprise. It is one for the dreamers and that's ok.

The post about India struck me as I briefly forgot how humidity affects living things and yeah.. It is horrific. Sitting on Windy.com long enough however makes you become somewhat desensitized to the extreme weather (dark brown in image is +40*C). The climate issue is insane and having been in the renewable energy industry, there is a massive gap in energy knowledge within the public sector (most people just don't really care). Raising awareness and fixing this kind of thing seems more punky.

So what is more appropriate for the sub: Utopian Sci-fi or lets fix the gloom?

Full disclaimer, yes I am making a renewable energy tech simulator/game with a focus on the simulation of renewable systems and building them (Mech Eng background).
We have just put up our Steam Page for those that would wishlist it (not punky yet).

Definitely a fan of the art and stories on this sub but the flags were a bit much.

What tech is the SolarPunk community excited about?

Hiya! I am developing a game for simulating components to make it easier for people to go off grid and make solarpunk a reality.

Is there tech that people are excited about and would want to see how to set it up for themselves?

Solar or Wind?
Do you pick your own battery chemistry?
How do you know the limits of the pack?

What voltage and power are you running?
