Dallas Police Active Incidents: updates

A few months ago I shared an initial version of a Dallas police active incidents map I built, and some of y’all gave helpful feedback. I’ve made a pretty significant round of updates since then, both to the app itself and the infrastructure behind it, so I wanted to reintroduce it here for anyone who may find it useful:

The basic idea is still the same: it takes publicly available Dallas police active call data and puts it into a cleaner, easier-to-use map interface. Instead of digging through a city data table, you can quickly see active police dispatch incidents around Dallas, where they are generally located, what type of call they are, and how activity is spread across the city.

I’ve also kept the Dallas-focused tools around it, including the live incident map, active call details, mobile-friendly layout, and the local Reddit feed/context so it’s easier to see what people in the area are talking about when something is happening nearby. The newer work has been more about making the whole thing faster, more stable, and more usable on phones, especially when there’s more traffic or more active incidents showing at once.

I’m not trying to spam the sub with it, but since it’s Dallas-specific and some people seemed to find the first version useful, I figured it was worth sharing the improved version. Feedback is welcome, especially if there’s something that would make it more useful for people who live or work in Dallas.
