I dont usually go to salons because Amma ne sab sikhaya hai silayi, karhai, grooming all of it. And because everything is SO expensive.

Anyway there was a sale going on at this salon with some decent deals so I thought chalo basic pedicure, cleansing wagera karwa leti hoon. Whole time the salon girls kept telling me I should do this every month.

And why basic pedicure? Aapko parrafin karwana chahye

Please excuse me but some of us are trying to make ends meet. In this economy I mean what woman WOULDNT want the full spa experience? Ghar ke kaam, bachay aur roz ki zindagi ke beech agar koi mujhe kahay "madam spa karwa lein" obviously mera dil karega. Paisay allow nahi karte bas. 🤧

And then there was this whole "you should groom yourself more" undertone. They were polite. Im not saying they were rude at all but somehow whenever I go to a parlour I enter with high selfesteem and leave with low selfesteem.

Like girl I KNOW. I would also love to be moisturised, exfoliated, waxed, massaged and polished from head to toe if my bank account agreed.

And the funniest part is they themselves werent exactly looking like they had stepped out of a beauty campaign but you didnt see me judging them did you? Why is bodyshaming and groom-shaming necessary? Just quietly do your work and let me leave with my selfesteem intact.

Maybe its just me but sometimes salons feel like a conspiracy to convince women that there are 47 things wrong with them that they didnt even know existed before they walked in.
