The mouth of a Sarracenia alata

My local botanical garden has a small-modest collection of carnivorous plants. It’s a nice selection, but obviously if you’re used to them in the wild it pales in comparison. I thought it was interesting that this plant or one of the adjacent S. alata had pinkish petals, not the typical yellow.

Which plants thrive in Southern Michigan’s climate?

I didn’t plant these tulips but I get to enjoy them at the house I’m renting. I’m not from Michigan but I’m a lifelong plant lover. Which plants do you find thrive the most in the climate here, for both outdoor only plants as well as indoor/outdoor species? I’m not really looking for edibles, but flowers/ornamentals. Something I can keep in a pot or that blooms in less than 2 years is ideal.
