How to spend 48 hours?
I am a solo traveler coming through San Francisco on an impromptu trip. I arrive at noon Wednesday (5/20), and have until Friday afternoon (5/22) to explore the city by myself. I'm looking to make the most of those ~48 hours. I've been to SF once before for a brief evening of a Giants game and walk to Union Square.
I don't have time to do much research or planning on my own. (EDIT* - the NYT 36 hours in SF is on point). Hoping Redditors can usurp the wisdom of hotel staff and spending hours on trip advisor. So... Anybody have suggestions on how to make the most of my time? 😁🙏🏼 Or just shout out your favorite local haunts
About Me: (EDIT* per advice of a fellow Redditor, and help from my favorite chatbot, I expanded on my interests.)
- male, late 30's, straight, single. Sober (from alcohol). Celiac diagnosis.
- Avid traveler. Adventurous & outgoing. Night owl. Will try anything once, maybe twice.
- Currently live in St. Louis, MO. Past resident of Denver, CO; Winston-Salem, NC; Los Angeles, CA; Washington DC; Florence, Nice, and Shanghai.
- Money is not an issue (especially for experiences), but I don't live extravagantly or spend recklessly.
- Not afraid to traverse rough / undesirable areas when needed.
- YES: Hidden gems, live music, architecture & unique local experiences. Also...
- Live music in a cool intimate venue is my ideal vibe. Bonus points if it offers opportunity to chat with interesting women.
- electronic/bass music - I go see DJs a few times per month, and dancing like a fool in front of strangers
- rock/alternative/indie/funk - also cool
- anything but country, really
- Fine with going to bars, just not places filled with beligerents
- I love biking/rollerblading, and climbing things.
- Learning bizarre facts and uncommon attractions of a city from local experts
- Vintage / local clothing & jewelry are something I always look out for, but don't prioritize shopping. I am only brining a carry on bag with me.
- Live music in a cool intimate venue is my ideal vibe. Bonus points if it offers opportunity to chat with interesting women.
- NO: tourist traps & souvenir shopping.
- As much as I love the beach, I've seen plenty. Not a draw for me when it's too cold to swim (or warm enough to take my shirt off)
