24f persistent UTI
Hello I tried posting this in a doctor thread and it kept getting ghost comments lol, I have had weird urinary changes for 2 months my GP decided they would treat it as a UTI without any testing, so she prescribed me Cipro which worked for a time and then it came back so I went to my gyno. I then was diagnosed recently because I asked my gyno to send a culture out which came back with 10,000-49,000 CFU/mL of Enteroccocus Faecalis. My gyno called saying I did have a UTI and that she sent me Cephalexin. My grandmother is an NP and told me that cephalexin is not the correct antibiotic to treat this strain of bacteria and I should call my gyno back to confirm this which the gyno said she was wrong and the keflex should be fine. I just want opinions on if this is the correct treatment as I’ve taken a few doses and feel like my bladder is going to burst still. I’m very uncomfortable and I’m starting college back up and I’m worried this is going to keep happening. Any advice or knowledge?
