NEED ADVICE

Hello, I will get right to the point. I am a 2 month Probie working for TKE, my mechanic is great and i am loving the job so far. My mechanic frequently tells me how great of a helper i am and how i just need to keep doing what im doing. The issue at hand is that my management is in absolute shambles ever since it was set in stone that KONE would be acquiring us soon we have had multiple supers quit as well as other office personnel, My issue is my mechanic has a lot of time off this summer, when he takes his time i wish to keep working. He reaches out to management multiple times as well do i and they just keep saying they will take care of it etc until the day comes where he is off and they have no work for me. my mechanic tells me that is absolute bullshit and apologizes to me about it (even though i understand it’s out of his control) He essentially told me that if they keep jerking me around like this i should request a lay off and go to the hall tell my BA what has been going on and get put on with another company. Basically i just want a second opinion from some experienced brothers on what i should do in this situation.

NEIEP Question

I unfortunately started right after a semester start so i will have to wait until after january to start my in person classes, I understand that I will need a laptop to complete my NEIEP classes. Is that laptop provided or will i have to purchase one? Also when I have to leave work early to get to class on time will i get paid for the whole day or will i end up not hitting my 40?

Probationary entitlement on federal jobs.

Does anyone on here know if when a probationary apprentice is working on a federal job site if he or she is entitled to the fringe benefits in their check? Being that they are not receiving their benefits during this period of employment.

Hello! So I have passed my aptitude test, I nailed my tool test, I also nailed my interview! I got the email the i am ranked #8 at my local! I have been working in civil concrete for 4 years now right out of high school I pride myself on my work ethic and adaptability to any situation at work.

My questions are.

#1: I understand that no one knows how long it will take but assuming they would hire 8 people here pretty soon I’d just like to know what to expect generally as a helper, any knowledge i should study and become “hip” too in the mean time?

#2: I am in NYS I am aware that there is a drug test of course. I have worked on state jobs and federal jobs and never had an issue with my test coming back positive for weed, As well as I have a buddy who is in the IBEW and he tested positive for weed and got in as well. I would just like to see if anyone out there has any knowledge on the topic, I’ve heard very mixed responses so far and would like a more clear cut response. I know the “If you smoke we don’t want you anyway” comments are gonna come in and that’s fine but if anyone has any personal experience or possibly some insider knowledge and they would be willing to shed some light on this topic i would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your time.
