Prone vs wound/giving ground to easy?

Hello there!

As a small party from our 4e project is currently testing TOWRPG by playing a mini campaign from the perspective of the adversaries/a fledgling cult cell, we start getting into the system and some questions emerge.

  1. Drop prone

Combat->staggered->staggered again

Is it just to easy an option to drop prone? My players can choose to drop down towards the end of enemy turn, being sure to have a recovery option avaiable before it can be a problem.

Its ether risk free (loosing an action to recovery anyway ofc) or only creates a risk if the Gm is mean and rushes with remaining enemies to exploit, killing rp for gamey behaviour.

Any input or is it just a niche experience?

2.niche talents +

A few talents seem very situational. For example having the option to not get broken by running direcgly into someone while giving ground (acrobatic?).

This almost requires a GM made situation to apply and will not nearly be as usefull as some cheaper talents.

Ofc coming from 4e we know way less utilized talents ;) more of a GM question, if its just a subjective feeling of "rarely used" talents.

  1. Status +careers

Some of my players have aquired money way above their status. Having some expensive assets is feeling not like a rp/character choice, especially with social strata and expectations.

Getting to a higher tier is always linked to changing the careers and therefore its a bit weird to have a labourer/peasant required to change to actual trades like artisan and not just become a rich peasant and an important person in the local village with the biggest farm and loads of cattle and land.

It seems like i am missing tiers in career (like 4e) atleast an option to rank up in ur career to sth like a silver Tier "free farmer".

Maybe it just requires more career options? My 4e farmers always had a career to aim for and become sth like a rich persons servant. TOW careers are very cool for having a wide definition, but i miss getting a higher tier as an option.

Thx in advance and embrace the change 😉
