  • A clear app icon
  • High-quality screenshots

How to Get More 5-Star Reviews for Your App (Without Asking Everyone)

App ratings play a huge role in whether people install your app.

Most users won't leave a review unless they have a really good or really bad experience.

Instead of asking every user, try asking only after they've completed something meaningful, such as:

Some simple ways to increase positive reviews:

  • Ask only after a successful experience.
  • Don't interrupt users during onboarding.
  • Wait until users complete an important action.
  • Make the review request easy to dismiss.
  • Never buy or fake reviews.

Many developers think their testers are not active because they check the wrong section in Play Console.

If you want to confirm whether your closed testing is progressing, there is only one place that matters:

Play Console → Dashboard → Apply for Production

What you will see there

Google shows 3 steps that unlock one by one:

  1. Publish a closed testing release This confirms your app is ready for testing.
  2. Have at least 12 testers opted-in This updates once testers join your test.
  3. Run your closed test for 14 days This tracks continuous testing progress.

This section is the official Production Access checklist.

Important note

  • This dashboard is not real-time
  • Day 1 updates may appear only at the end of the day
  • Other sections in Play Console may show different data, but they are not used for Production Access approval

Common mistake

Developers check:

  • Installs
  • Statistics
  • Device activity

Then assume testing is not happening.

These are not reliable for closed testing approval.

Final point

If the checklist in Apply for Production is progressing, your testing is on track.

Don’t rely on other sections and don’t panic early.
