Hopefully Good News Considering (41 M)

So I posted a couple weeks ago and had a Radical Nephrectomy on my right side August 7th after ~9.8 cm mass found on right kidney from what I thought was kidney stone.

Pathology report came back:

Clear Cell Renal Carcinoma and is Unifocal pT3a and “predominantly Grade 2”

Lymph nodes not involved

Extends into renal sinus
Extends into pelvicalyceal system

Sarcomatoid or rhabdoid features not identified

All margins negative for invasive carcinoma

I will meet with Oncologist soon and my Urologist advised that given my age I should consider Immunotherapy.

Not the Bingo card I had in mind (40 Male)

Woke up Wednesday August 5th at 0600 hours with blood in urine and flank pain. Told my wife and she said it might be kidney stones and to follow up with PCP. Got to work urinated more blood and blood clot, called PCP and was advised to go to ER. Pain now extreme and feel like knife being twisted in my back and abdomen. ER orders CT Scan and they find no kidney stones but large 10 cm mass on right kidney (my heart drops as I think of my 3 young children)

Transferred to bigger hospital as I live in a small town. Urologist orders MRI and finds large mass on right kidney has not spread. Radical Nephrectomy surgery planned for that Friday August 7th. Kidney removed and no spread can be seen by surgeon.

Waiting now for pathology and unknown future of immunotherapy and cancer screenings.

To say I was scared is an understatement. Recovery going well so far.
