Google L4 → L3 downlevel: accept or walk away?

I interviewed for L4 but got an L3 offer after the final review.

I have several years of experience and currently have a lot more ownership than what an L3 would have, so that’s my main concern.

TC is pretty strong though. The base looks like normal L3, but the equity pushes total comp close to public L4 numbers on Levels.fyi.

Anyone seen something similar?

  • Is a top-of-band L3 offer common after an L4 downlevel?
  • How long does L3 → L4 usually take for an experienced hire?
  • Anyone regret joining Google at a lower level than they were effectively operating at before?
  • Would you care more about the level or the comp?

Q1 Max, some keys double type, some barely register. What is going on?? (~10 months old)

Bought Q1 Max in September 2025, my first mechanical keyboard. Cost a lot and honestly it's been the worst keyboard I've used.

First some keys like "u" and "a" started registering twice. I took out all the caps and switches, used compressed air and a cloth, and it was fine for about a day. Now it's back, and Enter went the other way. I have to hammer it down for it to register. (I need to fix all my text with Claude before sharing it with others as I started making so many typos because of these issues)

So some keys type twice and some barely work. Is this switch chatter, dead switches, or the board?

Still under the 12 month warranty. My old Apple Magic Keyboard wasn't as nice to type on but lasted 4 years no problems. What are my options here?
