Goldfish in stock!

I got a bunch of requests from customers to stock small goldfish for crappie fishing.

I finally located a supplier!

This connection is 100% thanks to a customer from FishingRVA! YOU ARE A LIFE SAVER, THANK YOU!

I'm moving all orders for shortfin squid, regular and green nightcrawlers, red wigglers, golden shiners, and basic tackle to this supplier as well, with pickups each Wednesday.

I do have a test supply in stock and ready to roll.

ALSO, this same community situated me with a new eel vendor who has larger sizes for the catfishing folks here. They are at least double the size or larger. I will still order the usual supply to keep cobia-sized eels in stock year-round.

You all are the best! Discounts continue for mentioning FishingRVA, indefinitely.

I look forward to serving the community; all the love from Hook You Up Bait and Tackle!

Weekend Report 5/8/26

Hello from Hook You Up Bait and Tackle, Sandston!

So.. a little different this week! A LOT of people are heading towards West Point and other brackish waters in search of croaker, catfish, and striper.

Even though this year has shown odd patterns, I'd still advise against croaker for another month or so; unless someone can show otherwise, I haven't gotten a single picture or comment from anyone who has actually caught enough / sizeable croaker to justify the trip.

Striper and catfish, however, are still lighting it up everywhere.

Bass are also doing really well for a lot of folks, and grubs seems to have increased success this year, even on the big slabs. What's odd about this year too, is the color selection. They're much less picky and I've even been catching them on darker colors mid-day. White is probably still the best choice currently! I personally transition into the chromes and greens or white/reds as the water temp increases. Hope this helps!

Have fun all, catch a big one, and don't forget to share photos of your success!

Hello from Hook You Up Bait and Tackle, Sandston!

Lots of buzz this week, hopefully the water stays cool! Judging by the weather report, you can look forward to a great weekend with sporty options:

-Striped bass (James, Appomattox, Chickahominy)

-Hickory Shad (Appomattox)

-Gizzard Shad (James / Mattaponi)

-Smallmouth and Largemouth bass (everywhere)

-Flatheads (James, Chickahominy, Mattaponi)

-Blue cats (everywhere)

-Channel cats (Chickahominy, James)

-Carp (Chickahominy, Pamunkey)

-Spot (Yorktown, Buckroe Pier)

-Bowfin are slowing down but definitely still around for the next couple months, especially in shallow waterbodies.

These are all just recent customer reports, with much more action picking up at Deep Bottom than last week! Striper are hitting more often on the topside than last week. Wilcox Wharf has been a solid location for blue cats and striper in the morning and late afternoon / evenings, too. Osborne has been a better than usual all-rounder for various anglers, both on boat and pier / trail.

I've been getting asked a lot about croaker! If you've caught some decent ones, please update!

Feel free to inquire about other species not included above!

I'll be joining in this week, heheh. Have fun and stay safe, all!
