My Crosscountry train today was ordered something like L-J-I-H-G-A-B-C-E

It really hurt my brain trying to make sense of it.

Can anyone explain??

Does anybody here work for cross country or have good knowledge on how and why they operate?

Why do they use a 4 carriage train to go between Penzance and Edinburgh? Then designate an entire carriage to be 1st class?

Why do they oversell the tickets to such an extent that people cannot even get on the train?

Apparently some trains don’t even have a designated unreserved carriage?

The train will be packed full like sardines yet the ticket inspector refuses to allow you to sit in an empty first class carriage?

Why haven’t they been stripped of an operating licence?
