Hey Houstonians, my wife and I will be in town for about a week in between Christmas and New Years. We’ll be staying at a Hostel and checking out some of the local attractions (Rothko Chapel, Menil, Museum of Natural Science,etc.). But what I’d really like to find is where the local up-and-comer artists are congregating and selling their stuff.

Anytime we visit a city, we try to find a local art hotspot. In San Antonio, there is Second Saturday in South town…in New Orleans there’s Frenchman Street. Where is that spot in Houston?

Edit: also interested in finding areas with strips of little quirky shops, that peddle art and other esoterica.
