Off-label Metformin?

Has anyone who takes meds for their lupus been prescribed metformin without having T2D? My primary care doctor prescribed it for me to help me combat weight gain from long term steroids, and it looks like there is emerging research that it can help calm lupus activity as well. My A1C is normal and my non-fasting blood glucose is in the expected range (just above “normal” but actually normal for being an hour after eating).
