Hyperthyroid- hot nodules - no med-no surgery- yet
Who else has fought not taking meds, or not had surgery? What was your outcome?
My Timeline:
2009 diagnosed with nodules with biopsies done and ok. Normal labs. No autoimmune.
2019- TSH tanked with subclinical symptoms
(Note: my father had just died and so under stress)
Dr put me on methimazole - it didn’t agree with me, bloated, moody, over all worse.
2021- RFA on hot nodules. Ended up with partial vocal cord paralysis due to procedure. One nodule had shrank. tSH slowly increased to subclinical.
Each year I have ultrasounds.
2026: Current: one nodule increased by 54 percent so at biopsy percentage. So will have that done. Not sure if I would do surgery at this point and risk my other vocal cord.
But Dr wants me on twice a week meds again, to prevent afib. I have no signs of any afib currently. Heart rate is great (Apple Watch monitored) No hyperthyroid symptoms.
Any thoughts?
