Newcomer looking for tips

Hey there,

I just stopped into a local Skate shop and dropped 150$ for a complete board at the recommendations of some folks online.

I have not ridden since middle school and high school, never could even Ollie, and I'm just looking to have fun, get some exercise and maybe learn a trick or two down the road. I'm pushing 40 so I'm not young but I'm willing to look like a dummy for a little bit. This may seem super dumb to ask but what's the best way to figure out where to place your feet and which foot do you use for "pedaling" I'm not sure on the technical term.

Right now I'm just looking to build confidence riding on flat terrain, learning to turn and feel how the board works. The trucks a little loose for right now and the skate shop guy said to tighten them slightly after a little while. I started following SkateIQ on Instagram and I've been watching that for fun but it's all tricks and down the road I'd like to get there.

I'd like your advice, what should I be doing right now.
