A Mysterious Melody From A Minstrel [Twisted Cookieland]

A Mysterious Melody From A Minstrel [Twisted Cookieland]

Half-Baked Cookie sat on the edge of a fountain, absently fidgeting with the sparkly, blue ticket in her hands as she tried to make up her mind. She was slightly surprised that she’d managed not to misplace it.

It was fairly quiet here now that night had fallen. The only notable sounds were the running water and the distant chatter of the other guests. She welcomed the silence, it wasn’t something she got too often back at the lab, and she was honestly still a bit overwhelmed by… all of this.

There were two options according to what Cream Unicorn Cookie had told her. A circus and a pinata derby. Though, admittedly neither option quite appealed to her. She liked animals of course (even if Butter Roll Cookie wasn't too fond of them), but there would almost definitely be a ton of noisy, unfamiliar Cookies there as well…

What if Cream Unicorn was upset by her not using her ticket though? She really didn’t want to be rude…

“Why is this so hard…?”

“Huh…?”

Half-Baked Cookie was snapped out of her spiraling thoughts by the sound of someone strumming a melody nearby...

(I actually finished this post a couple days ago, but I went to bed afterwords since it was getting late and I forgot to upload it when I woke up. Whoops. 😅)

"I am Melya Cookie, head falconer of the Dark Cacao Kingdom."

^("Hopefully this should get them to stop nagging me for at least a little while...")

She's based off of melya coffee which is a drink made from espresso, honey, and unsweetened cocoa powder.

Still haven't quite managed to figure out what to do with her in terms of backstory but here's the lore I got down so far:

She's a falconer from the Dark Cacao Kingdom.

She was a member of the former coffee tribe.

Possible history with Affogato Cookie (Former friends?)

Her cacao hawk, Bittersweet is her closest companion, she's been by her side for a very long time.

She's a bit of a distant and quiet cookie. She's always been kind of a misfit. She spends most of her time alone and/or patrolling the Kingdom's borders. While she doesn't trust easily, she is very loyal to her kingdom and anyone she considers an ally.

Melya's actually a big sweetheart if you manage to get to know her and doesn't even really mean to come off as cold.

(I force fed Half-Baked Cookie one of those flavor-changing potions but I think the chilli flavoring might have made her a little cranky to say the least.

Bakey can have a little crash out, as a treat.)

"Hmph..."

Half-Baked Cookie stood stiffly at the entrance to Cookie Land, her gloved hands gripping  the handle of her spatula tightly. She was completely unsure of what to do with herself.

Should she try to find out more about this place? Should she attempt to find a way back to the lab? She was used to having instructions to follow or some sort of task to complete. Back at the lab someone always had a job for her.

Cream Unicorn Cookie had simply told her to “just relax and have fun.” Half-Baked wasn’t accustomed to that. It was one task to the next. She didn’t typically get much time for herself.  She wasn’t sure what to do with it.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       She wished Butter Roll Cookie was here. He always knew what to do.

>!“Wait, Butter Roll Cookie. Will he notice I’m missing? What if he thinks I’ve run off? And I still have work that needs to be done! Or what about-”!<

Half-Baked jumped back in surprise at the sound of the golden gates closing behind her. Whelp. No turning back now. At least that narrowed down her options quite a bit.

>!“Alright. Chin up, Half-Baked Cookie. You’ll figure this out... right?”!<

Half-Baked tentatively put her spatula away behind her back, deciding her best choice was to follow the path forward. Her gaze anxiously darted around the area as she walked, finally processing the full scene. Everything was painted in a whole rainbow of pastel colors and the air was filled with the sounds of music and laughter. She could smell the aromas of freshly made treats from nearby confectionery stands.

It was the type of place she imagined a normal cookie might feel nostalgic for. It wasn’t at all unpleasant -far from it in fact- but it felt completely alien to her. She’d never actually been to an amusement park before. Butter Roll had never taken her to any place like this. She felt completely out of place here. Yet somehow oddly welcomed at the same time…?

Finally, she reached the center of it all. She paused in front of the slowly turning carousel.

“Okay, this seems like a good vantage point…”

She could see three different attractions from here. (Huh, shouldn’t there be lines…?)

“Those first two look like some sort of coaster rides… Sounds a bit too hectic. So that just leaves…”

A giant chestnut tree. It looked so much more alive than any of what little flora they got around the laboratorium.

“Oh, it’s trivia! I can do that! I’ll head that way then.”

(*Falls through ceiling* Hello, hi, sorry! Hopefully this isn't any trouble for you. I know this is extremely last minute, my life wound up getting a lot busier than I anticipated. A whole bunch of stuff going on. I also kinda screwed myself over with my goldfish memory. >-> But I just made it!

This is also my first time writing a full scene in years so I'm extremely rusty.

I'll probably tone it down from now on in my future Cookieland posts lol. It was fun but I think I accidentally bit off more than I could chew. Turns out I suck at judging my workload. Lesson (probably) learned.
