I built a hobby app to help with ID4 road trips

Hello fellow ID4 drivers! I built a little hobby app that I’m wondering if any of you would like to help beta test? It’s made for EV road trips, so if you’ve got one coming up—and maybe you’re also a planning and/or map geek—drop me a message.

If anyone remembers the old AAA TripTik’s, it’s like that but for chargers.

One side effect of the ID4’s route planning being entirely unusable is that I have learned to pick my own chargers and do my own math. Over 32k miles—mostly road trips across the Northeast—I have learned the benefits of arriving at a charging stop at the lowest possible state of charge. And I’ve also learned how much happier my passengers are when that charger is a good spot, with good food.

So I always want to know how far I am from the next good charger along my route, and the next one after that. (But without being bound to a pre-determined plan, like ABRP.) I want a live answer to the question, “should we stop here or go one more?” And then, once I’m charging, “how much do I need to charge to get to the next great stop?”

So I built that! (I’m not a developer, just playing with AI tools.)

Let me know if you have a trip coming up and you’re interested in trying it out.
