Slicing Problem

Hi

I’m new to resin printing.

I downloaded a pen-holder model from the internet, I printed it directly the first time and it weighted about 250gm.

Second time i decided to reduce the weight by trying to print the outer shell only ( Can be found in image with red normals appearing ).

After finishing the shell design, i went to slice it with Elegoo Satellite, at the preview tab the model can be seen as designed ( only a shell shown in second image ).

But when i slice it, it will always be filled with resin ( Third image ) and this time weighting about 700 gm.

I did my search and i found that it’s if a normals issue with the modeling itself, so i flipped the normals ( outside ) i got the same result.

Another reason was the manifold, i don’t know a lot about it, but if i manifold the model it gets closed from the top rim which i don’t need.

What am i doing wrong or what i need to understand, is it not possible to print a Shell only for a model ?!
