1. What wastes the most time in your estimating workflow?

What part of your estimating workflow consistently takes more time than it should?

I'm interested in repetitive work, waiting for information, double entry, unnecessary steps, corrections, coordination, or anything else that feels inefficient. What happens in practice, how often does it happen, and how do you currently deal with it?

Any estimators using Bluebeam?

I’m an HVAC estimator and use Bluebeam regularly for takeoffs and estimating. Just love the simplicity of that software.

Just looking to connect with other estimators using it to share experiences, workflows, tips, tools, and little tricks that make the job faster or more reliable.

Always interested in seeing how others approach the same problems. What does your Bluebeam workflow look like?

Anyone building their own estimating benchmarks?

I’m working on a system to collect historical bid/project data — quantities, work units, cost per unit, labor, etc. — and turn it into reusable benchmarks.

The idea is similar to an ABC budget: redistribute total costs across meaningful units, then compare projects using ranges and percentiles (P25/P50/P75) instead of relying only on averages.

I’m currently using Excel + Access, but I’m open to other approaches.

Mostly looking to connect with estimators doing something similar, compare methods, and expand my thinking. How are you building your benchmarks?
