Are Pokémon merch drops becoming impossible for normal fans to enjoy?

The Pokémon x Target drop made me think about how every hyped Pokémon product now feels like a race against resellers.

I understand that limited items sell out. That’s normal. But when items show up online almost immediately for 2x, 3x, or 4x retail, it feels like actual fans barely get a fair shot anymore.

This isn’t just about one jacket or one drop either. Pokémon cards, ETBs, special collections, exclusive promos, collabs, anniversary merch — everything feels like it becomes a flipping opportunity the second it releases.

Do you think this is just part of collecting now, or has Pokémon merch gotten genuinely out of control?
