How can I sleep the night following a sleeping pill?

I'm in a cycle. I take a sleeping pill (zopiclone + melatonin), and sleep great (as much as 8 hours). But then the next night I'm not tired enough to sleep, and I usually end up getting no sleep at all. Then I'm exhausted the next day. The next night I get my usual 3 hours sleep, and same for the night after that. But by then I'm just no longer functioning, so I take a sleeping pill again. Repeat.

I know I'm never going to get a great sleep without sleeping pills, but I'd like to at least get 3 hours the night following taking one. I can get that other nights, so it seems to just be a case of not being tired enough. I've tried taking melatonin the next night, but that never helps.

Any life hacks?

My time-travelling message to Gojo/me

Just started watching on Netflix... finished season 1. Having been in high-school as an awkward nerd, Gojo resonates with me. I was in a circumstance where a very attractive girl was friendly with me, and in hindsight very clearly sending me strong signals. I was dumb, scared, and clueless. In the end, I lost the girl, because I never clued in. My time-travel message for Gojo/me is to clue in and hold her hand, maybe kiss her. Because, young love only lasts so long, so you need to embrace it. Once you grow up, it's all gone, and never has that same energy that only a teenager can experience.
