Scaling operations without hiring: is it even something feasible?

We’ve been trying to grow without massively increasing headcount bc of the tight budget. However, operations are becoming our breaking point. Every new customer, campaign, or internal process adds another layer of manual coordination.

As a result, we are constantly jumping between Slack threads, dashboards, and random docs just to figure out what’s happening. This has made us lose almost 20% of our workweek trying to search for internal information and connecting our operations. Anyone who has managed to scale their operations without hiring more people?

AI workspace, useful or just another prettier spreadsheet? Any experience

We have been running month-end through Excel and Slack for years. Excel is great for complex calculations and everyone knows how to use it on the hand, but manual data entry is tedious. Slack keeps the team connected and creates good audit trails, but important details get buried in threads fast.

Saw a launch video for play.fast this week and gave this AI-native workspace thing a shot. I built a close checklist dashboard, connected our bank feed, and added a tiny agent that flags uncategorized transactions over $10k. Weirdly, it already caught one issue before the month-end even started.

Still skeptical because most ops tools promise magic, but this felt more useful than I expected.

Anyone else trying these AI-native workspace tools for finance ops yet?
