Traitors Live Amongst My House
Thought this might be funny to share. A while back I got a crested gecko from my workplace, wasn't being picky about gender, but was just tired of seeing an adult gecko in a tiny enclosure. As an employee I got this gecko for a severely discounted price, so it all worked out. I get home and post a picture of this gecko to share online and ask for sexing. I swear this relates to rabbits, stick with me here lol
Everyone pretty much agreed, looks like a boy. Then she laid eggs. It was 2am and I was incredulous at this as I generally agreed with online sentiment as her...cresticles, were quite noticeable. However out come two eggs and I'm baffled. Either way, apparently a girl.
Now, I'm sitting at home. I dropped off my rabbit for his neuter just yesterday. I'm fostering him to adopt later after his neuter. I get a call. Turns out he is not, in fact, a boy, despite what everyone at the shelter thought. Now, before I wasn't going for a boy so y'know, sure. Things happen. This time I specifically chose this rabbit, thinking it was a boy, to bond with my girl.
And that's the thing. So far they absolutely love each other. After I took her away for her spay, Angel (the bunny I had before this new bunny) has stopped eating when I'm not in the room, sleeps next to the other empty enclosure, and is super needy with attention from me. I am fully prepared for this to potentially all to go back to square one after the spay since I know hormones affect personality and the new bun will no doubt smell differently, but it just baffles me that my super dominant, sassy bunny absolutely loved this other girl when I've heard females are the hardest to bond.
I'm simply baffled that my pets continue to bamboozle me. And the worst part is this;
Before we dropped off the rabbit, my father and I had been talking about how Angel would no doubt be pissed and how, in general, the choas has been crazy since these two have gotten together. But when I told him that night that Angel was in fact moping and acting depressed instead of being angry, he told me that the rabbits always do whatever is least expected, just to inconvenience me.
And he was so right.
