Hi yall! I hope yall are doing well. Thank you in advance for answering my questions.
From my understanding, the new rule that will be implemented will enforce a 4-year duration of status regardless of the program’s length or the prior I-20 expiration date. I have my I-20 valid until 2027, but I have been in my program for 4 years already.

I am planning for a trip this summer, presumably from end of July to end of August. Some say that the new rule will be in effect from September.

I submitted my application for extension to stay but that takes months before processed, so I don’t think it will be done before my trip.

Both VISA and I-20 are valid for my trip, but I just worry if the new rule will result in me not being able to return to the US. May I ask how you assess my situation? Will I be safe if I return before end of August/ 1st September, before the rule is implemented?

I am wondering if the interviewer will notify you of the result (Visa granted or denied) at the end of the interview process at BLS Chicago? Will they notify you verbally, or do you have to wait a few days until the embassy notify you the result through BLS?
