What Is Real Reason Passthrough Audio Isn't implemented?

I've been reading that the main issue is how Apple wants to control the audio output and make it as consistent as possible, and also that they wouldn't be able to integrate system sounds/speech search functions as easily, but why not just give the option to people who really want it? I do not need system sounds or use voice search functions and would rather have raw audio data sent to my receiver. It feels like an easy thing to implement; just have it be an optional feature, like CAC, and let me manually find it in settings and opt in with a sternly worded warning I have to click ok on first.

What would you like the most and the least in new hardware?

This isn’t in violation of rule 4: I’m unconcerned about when something is being released, just curious about what everyone wants to see the most and the least in the inevitable hardware upgrade. Doesn’t have to be remotely possible (I doubt either of my mosts will ever happen); if you want to blue sky daydream, please do!

I’ll start.

MOST: A 4k Blu-ray drive with Dolby Vision and HDR10+ would be insanely good because it’s always nice to have everything in 1 device, PS6 isn’t coming with a drive, and I doubt if it did Sony would bother adding support anyways. Then also the option for audio passthrough.

LEAST: Audio and video AI post-processing that can’t be disabled. I don’t care if features like that are available, much like applying Dolby Vision to all output is currently possible and that doesn’t bother me because I can disable it; do what feels good. I just don’t want any potential features to be compulsory, since I have a nice setup that I have tuned for accurate reproduction, and I have a feeling that features like that are on their way In future hardware.
