Self-studying and Researching Bioinformatics

Hi everyone, I was recently introduced to bioinformatics, and as a 3rd year CS student, I found it to be an interesting interdisciplinary field. For now, I have started taking some online bioinformatics courses bcs I think I'd like it more than what I'm doing now but I'm also curious as to how I could have a solid foundation in the subject and how I could do independent research of any kind (bioinformatics isnt big in my country so no internships). And if I can't do research, are there any projects that could prove what I've learnt to a potential research supervisor?

Does anyone have any advice?

Any chance of studying Bioinformatics in China with a bachelors in CS?

Hey guys, so currently I'm pursuing my bachelors in CS but I was recently introduced to bioinformatics and since it's an interdisciplinary field, I did some research and basically concluded that technically it is possible that I pursue bioinformatics with a CS degree in Masters. However, since I want to apply to universities in China only, I'm a bit lost about what major to choose since most unis under the CSC program don't teach bioinformatics in English, and I've been having a really hard time finding professors and supervisors that work in bioinformatics + under the CS department.

For context, I don't think I can apply for a masters in biology bcs the last time I studied biology was in high school, and my bioinformatics knowledge is limited rn because I'm studying online along with CS.

Does anyone have any advice on choosing a major, a uni or finding supervisors? So far, I've only found 5-6 potential advisors but most of them can't supervise research for international schools/colleges.

EDIT: I'm also curious if I could just do a masters in CS and base my research in bioinformatics?

Want to study in China for a Masters but need help with my CV

Hi everyone, this is my first time posting so I'm not sure what exactly I should say but here goes: I want to study in China for my Masters right after I graduate from my bachelors. I have 1 year left, and it's my understanding that I need to apply in the next admission cycle if I want to start my Masters in Fall 2027. I'd also have to apply for the CSC scholarship because there's no other way I can afford to go.

Currently, I'm majoring in CS and other than a good GPA, proficiency in some programming languages, and academic honors in O Levels and A levels, I have nothing on my CV. (For context, I'm from Pakistan.)

Is there any way I can drastically improve my CV before I reach out to professors as potential supervisors and then apply for the CSC scholarship? I don't intend to apply for very prestigious universities like Tsinghua and Peking because I know I don't stand a chance there.

I'd really appreciate some help from the community.
