Fellow incontinent girlies?
Hey everyone, I’m unsure if this is a question for female dog owners in general but since we only have a xolo, I’m curious if others have experienced the same?
Our girl is 3 going on 4 years old. When we initially got her at 7 months old she had a peeing problem but we attributed that to her being nervous in a new space and new owners. Eventually she acclimated and the only accidents we would see is if we decide to greet her after coming home, she will excitedly pee everywhere.
This past week we have been seeing that she’s beginning to tinkle a little without realizing it until we tell her to go outside and she scampers off to pee. Also she has peed while sleeping twice already which prompted me to take her to the vet (pictured above). They did a urine test and ruled out a UTI, and the vet mentioned that when female dogs are spayed, it’s similar to going into menopause, so they can become incontinent. Is this really a common thing? If so, how have you managed to tackle this problem? We feel bad that she can’t sleep with us anymore, but I would also like a piss-free mattress.
