Hi everyone, I’m applying for a Japanese language school (October intake) and wanted some honest opinions on my chances of getting the Certificate of Eligibility (COE).

Here’s my situation:

  • I have passed JLPT N5
  • I have already completed my bachelors from my home country.
  • my age is 20
  • My purpose is to study Japanese and later pursue higher education (Master’s) in Japan

Financials:

  • My father and mother are both my sponsors
  • Combined latest ITR (1 year): around ₹13–14 lakh total (~¥2.4–2.5 million)
  • My father has savings of around ₹25–26 lakh (~¥4.5–4.7 million, including FD + bank balance)

Documents:

  • I have submitted all required documents (bank statement, balance certificate, ITR, sponsor affidavit, etc.)
  • I submitted only 1-year ITR for both parents (as per requirement)
  • My father’s employment documents were originally in Hindi (UP Board affiliated institution), so I translated them into English and attached both original + translation. Note : i translated the documents myself with no official translation but it is 100% accurate.
  • My agent reviewed everything and said “everything looks perfect”

Concern:

  • My father’s older ITR (2–3 years ago) is lower (₹4L and ₹2.5L), so I did not include them
  • My mother only has 1 year ITR

Questions:

  1. Based on this profile, what are my chances of getting COE?
  2. Is submitting only 1-year ITR okay in such cases?
  3. Will self-translated documents (with original attached) cause any issue?

I’m feeling quite nervous while waiting, so any honest feedback or similar experiences would really help 🙏
