Summer fun with a port 🌊

Summer fun with a port 🌊

My doctor told me I’m allowed to swim in swimming pools with my (healed) port, and not to worry about germs. She cautioned against swimming in lakes/oceans though… she said I could go in up to my torso and leave my chest and head dry. I’m wondering if a waterproof germ barrier like tegaderm could be a workaround? Has anyone else been cleared to do this?

Connecting with young people

29F with CHL here. Anyone else feeling like the only young person with cancer on earth? At the hospital I only see old people, and the only people I know who’ve had cancer are older family members and they try to relate but I feel like our experiences are vastly different. I tried calling going to a cancer support group and just two older women showed up.

I’d love to talk to other younger people about how you’re coping with your life being disrupted at this stage!

Personally, I was hoping to buy a house soon but now I’m going through my savings since I had to quit my job. I’m worried about my career after being on a long health break. I have friends who are announcing pregnancies and I’m jealous of them. (I’m also nervous about starting a family with potential long term health issues.)
