Oh, Mary! Thursday 2nd July 8.45pm cast change, Rush ticketing
Ok so a brief summary: I bought a Rush ticket for the 8.45 performance tonight, at the point of sale Catherine Tate is named explicitly on TodayTix as performing. This is at about 11am. At 1.30, I get an email saying that Catherine isn’t doing either the 5.30 or 8.45 shows, and when I look at the booking page on TodayTix all labelling is now gone as if they’d never said that to begin with.
Am I wrong for thinking that’s an outrageous withholding of information? Given how swiftly it was announced they must have known the cast change was happening by the time people were still booking tickets surely? I’ve been to dozens of plays including those with cast changes so this isn’t some newbie complaint thing, but I’ve never had it implemented in such a seemingly deliberately misleading way. Especially with this play in particular where they’re being so much more direct in saying who is performing due to the lead being swapped out for the various stints from Mason/Catherine/Cole.
What are my rights here? TodayTix say Rush tickets are ‘final sale’ so cant be transferred in-app. I imagine TodayTix and the theatre will just say it’s the others’ fault/problem on ticket conditions and/or cast changes. Has anyone had any luck selling on Rush tickets before? If so does anyone here want it at less than the £30 face value? 😂 The only consolation is I’ve heard very good things on this sub about the understudy, so hopefully it’ll still be fun if I go. These things happen I get that it just seems particularly misleading this time and I wondered if anyone else had something like this happen with Rush tickets and figured out a solution?
