We just launched Burrow on Product Hunt - local-first budget, journal, and habits with zero cloud sync.

Hey r/producthunters!

I’m Christian, an independent developer, and today I’m launching Burrow on Product Hunt.

Like many of you, I hit subscription and cloud fatigue. Every budgeting and journaling tool I tried demanded an account, hooked into third-party analytics, locked basic features behind monthly fees, and kept my financial records on someone else's server.

I wanted something different: a single, snappy desktop app that works completely offline with Wi-Fi switched off.

What is Burrow?

Burrow brings your personal life management into one local workspace:

All-in-one modules: Budgeting, journaling, habits, todos, calendar, notes, subscriptions, focus timer, and bookmarks.

100% Local data: Stored directly in a file on your machine. No accounts, no tracking telemetry. Every network connection (Oura sync, weather, license check) is disabled by default in Settings > Network.

Bank CSV imports & clean exports: Preview CSVs before importing; export your entire database as JSON, CSV, or Markdown at any time.

Local AI with a strict rule (No Hallucinations)

Burrow includes an assistant named Javi, powered locally on your PC via Ollama.

Because mixing LLMs with personal finance can be dangerous, I built Burrow around a hard constraint: Burrow calculates all balances and sums using deterministic code; Javi only interprets and explains the results in plain English. It physically cannot hallucinate your bank balance. In Pro, Javi can stage actions and edits, but nothing applies until you manually click "Approve."

Pricing & Platform

Free tier: Includes every single module with zero artificial limits.

Pro: $49 one-time payment (no recurring subscriptions, ever) with an optional 7-day in-app trial that requires no credit card.

Platform: Currently available for Windows 10 & 11 (x64 and ARM64). Mac and Linux builds are in active development.

(Heads up: The app isn’t code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen will pop up with "Windows protected your PC." You can click More Info → Run anyway, and SHA-256 checksums are posted for every release.)

We’re live on Product Hunt today!

If privacy-first software and offline AI resonate with you, I’d be grateful for your support and honest feedback on the launch page:

I'll be hanging around all day answering questions, discussing the local LLM integration, and taking feature requests for what Javi should learn next!
