We have more problems now

Yesterday Google updated the IDE to the Vibe Coding 2.0 version without my consent. Then they forced me to download the new IDE version and reinstall it just to keep having an IDE at all. When I opened it, I found that Flash (the only decent thing left for Pro users) was gone and replaced with Flash 3.5 (High) and (Low). And sure, they are fast and powerful, but it turns out they use the same quota as the 3.1 Pro model. So after just a couple of lines, you are out of tokens, and then it’s a 5 days reset…

What did they leave to those of us who were paying for Pro? Nothing. Just call it Basic already. Five terabytes of space? That’s not why you pay for Pro. You don’t subscribe to Pro mainly for storage.

They are basically giving you two options: Ultra or pay‑per‑token (and that last one is the real business model). And I have to say it: there are very capable models out there that are much cheaper per token.

My frustration is: how do you suddenly change the deal for someone who signed up for a service under certain conditions? Sure, the fine print probably allows them to change the terms… but it really shows how little they value their customers. We are not begging; we are paying. Was what we paid not enough? They should not have offered it, or they should have ended it but still honored the remaining time on the existing contract.

I walk away disappointed and frustrated with Google

Edit: Today, the models were reset to full token capacity again. I don’t know if this is intended behavior or if Google is live‑testing changes to their implementation, but it still disrupts developers’ workflows. I’ll keep this post updated if anything changes.
