I constantly see people, especially Somalians glazing siyad bare. Supporting a dictator is wild. Even if his regime didn’t commit genocide, he is still a terrible leader simply by the virtue of being a communist dictator, a system that has never produced an economically thriving country.

People romanticise his rule and claim Somalia was thriving in the 70s and 80s but the reality is that the country was plagued by extreme poverty and widespread malnutrition. People need to actually look at the history instead of romanticising a dictator
